There are often great deals available online, but you need to make sure that the company that you book with is protected and has been around for a while. In the event the company goes out of business, you will lose your holiday and the money you paid. 

Booking through a travel agency, especially one that has been around a while, is the best way to secure trusted suppliers and knowledge of the industry. Your trip will also be protected if anything goes wrong.  Make sure the company you are booking with is protected in case the worst should happen and that the reviews are at least 3.5 stars if you are booking your travel online. Nothing is worse than showing up at the airport and not having a flight!

 

You Can Pay in Installments

You can book online holiday deals with a deposit and pay the balance in installments on some sites, but your options are usually limited. Flight tickets, for example, can only be purchased as part of a package or paid in installments. The travel agency can arrange for you to book your flight and hotel separately and pay for them separately. This is also true for cruises!

It might seem like a great deal online, and you book it, but when you arrive you find out its hurricane season/raining/too hot, etc.  Travel agents can provide you with all the information you need before you go and give you good advice so that you have a great time.  Additionally, most travel agents love to travel and are always off somewhere new, so if you need inspiration, they can suggest places they think you will enjoy.

 

A Flexible Approach

In order to get a good deal online you have to book with several providers; a hotel company, a flight company, an airport transfer company, etc, so you have to keep track of many different conformations. The advantage of a travel agency is that everything is in one place, so you can still find what you want for the right price without the hassle.

 

Changes And Cancellations

Whenever you need to change or cancel your booking, a travel agency can help you find the best possible outcome, whereas when you book online, you may not receive a response via email or wait 45 minutes for a call center to pick up the phone only to be told there is nothing they can do. When your travel agent books your travel, they'll also tell you what's allowed and what's not allowed so that you can make informed decisions without having to read all of the terms and conditions (who even does that?).
